It’s a new year, and a good time to think about ways to bring positive energy in to your home.

Marble is one luxe material that will be big this year. Think about using large statement pieces in your home, like marble tables, countertops and flooring.

1. Green, green, green

Pantone, the authority on all things colour related in the world, announced that ‘Greenery’ is their colour of the year.

This means that this lush hue will undoubtedly influence just about anything design, décor and fashion related.

Bringing this trend into your home is not only easy, but it’s also affordable and fun.

To incorporate it, you can add green scatter cushions to your lounge or cover a central wall using wallpaper in shades of green (wallpaper is also trending), or you can simply place gorgeous pot plants in your living area.

2. Cork walls

Velvets, faux fur, chunky knits, rattan, bamboo, jute and wood are some of the materials that will be popular this year.

The sustainable and practical elements of cork are making a comeback in 2017.

These walls will be great for absorbing or blocking out sound, pinning inspirational images or quotes, and bringing earthy warmth to your home.

3. Marble

Marble, which once served as a vintage trend, is also making a comeback.

This luxe material will be big in many ways this year. Think about using large statement pieces in your home, like marble tables, countertops and flooring.

Use event accessories like serving platters and vases too as these will add the ‘wow’ factor you’ve been looking for.

4. Texture

This year, there will also be a strong focus on materials that add a sense of touch to décor.  

Velvets, faux fur, chunky knits, rattan, bamboo, jute and wood are some of the materials that will be popular.  

While big pot plants have been dominating interior décor trends for a number of years, 2017 will see smaller glass planters, a la terrariums, trend.

These materials can easily be used to update older headboards or chair covers, and you can also use chunky knit throws in the living area or velvet scatter cushions to make your space look luxurious. These are just some of the ways you can bring texture into your home.

While big pot plants have been dominating interior décor trends for a number of years, 2017 will see smaller glass planters, a la terrariums, trend.
